I have spent over two dozen winter seasons on the north shore of Oahu (Hawaii). After so much time spent in one place it can be a challenge to find new angles and a fresh perspective. Early one morning while swimming out into the line-up I looked in towards the beach. It was a beautiful Hawaiian sunrise and I was taking a moment to soak it all in. As I was taking note of all these amazing details happening all around me I noticed the sunlight peering over the mountain and slicing through these palm trees. I lifted my water housing out of the water and focused my 70-200mm lens in towards the beach. I did my best to balance the lens-flare with those trademark island beach palms. This moody image was the result and it was definitely a new angle and a fresh perspective I had not taken a photo of in the past.
